RobotClub&Grille Wiki

Furious George (More famously known as Death by Monkeys) was a Lightweight robot built by Team Death by Monkeys, and driven by Team Tentacle Combat Robotics that competed at the first LTRC event. It was a four-wheeled, black, invertible, box-shaped robot armed with four red lifting spikes.  Furious George did not do well in competition, managing to win only one out of its three fights.

Furious George also competed in Battlebots, Steel Conflict, and RoboGames under the name Death by Monkeys where it had much more success. Its name was likely a pun on the TV/Movie franchise Curious George.

Outside LTRC[]

Furious George competed outside of the Lazy Toad Robot Club & Grille as Death by Monkeys where it first competed in the original Comedy Central run of Battlebots where it was quite successful. Reaching the Round of 32 in Season 3.0, the Semifinals of Season 4.0, and the Quarterfinals of Season 5.0.

It also competed in Steel Conflict 2 & 3 as, losing both of its matches in Steel Conflict 2 but becoming the champion in Steel Conflict 3. It also entered RoboGames 2005-2010, and registered for RoboGames 2017, however it had issues, and forfeited both of its matches there.

  • Furious George is the only Hawaiian robot to compete at the Robot Club & Grille.
  • Consequently Team Tentacle Combat Robotics were the furthest team away from the Club & Grille to compete.
  • Due to the age of the competition, Furious George is one of the few robots from the competition to still be fighting today, joining the likes of Lionheart, Auto Destruct, and Super Brain.
